National Catholic Reporter article
The Book of Faith Initiiative emphasizes taking seriously our Biblical theology, I noticed in the August 8, 2008 National Catholic Reporter on line edition a column written by NCR staffer reporting on the work of their groups like Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good.  In response to the efforts of the "religious right" as those who have "almost exclusive control over the language of religious politics..." there are several groups working in through the various organizations, also including the Campaign for Human Development, and many others.
I believe that the Book of Faith Initiative is more to the heart of our ELCA's efforts to bring us all up to date on our Biblical work which is more than just an organization, but a grass-roots response for today's society on many of these matters.
The article is worth reading just to catch up on where they are.
